About the job
Mechanical Design Engineer – Fusion 360 – Sheet Metal Enclosures (Ongoing Work)
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to assist with the development of commercial sheet metal products using Autodesk Fusion 360.
This is not simply CAD drafting. We require someone with real-world experience designing products that will be laser cut, CNC punched, folded, welded and powder coated for manufacture.
The initial project is a commercial electronics cabinet, with ongoing work available for the right person.
Scope of Work
Design and develop commercial sheet metal enclosures and cabinets including:
* Main cabinet assemblies
* Doors and removable covers
* Internal mounting plates
* Brackets
* Folded sheet metal components
* Ventilation features
* Cable entry points
* Mounting provisions
* Hardware integration
The design must be suitable for production manufacture.
Manufacturing Processes
The successful applicant should understand:
* Laser cutting
* CNC punching
* Press brake folding
* Bend allowances
* Bend radius selection
* K-factor
* Reliefs
* Corner treatments
* Spot welding
* PEM hardware
* Clinch nuts
* Studs
* Threaded inserts
* Rivnuts
* Powder coating
* Assembly tolerances
Typical Materials
Experience designing with:
* 1.0 mm mild steel
* 1.2 mm mild steel
* Galvanised steel (advantage)
* Stainless steel (advantage)
Deliverables
For each project we require:
* Fully parametric Fusion 360 model (...
