We are looking for an experienced mechanical product design engineer to help us develop the first prototype of an innovative housing for a fibre-optic connector. Fixed price
This is not a standard connector boot redesign. We are developing a next-generation connector housing intended to support future integration of passive sensing technologies for critical infrastructure applications.
The initial scope is purely mechanical. We are looking for an engineer capable of transforming functional requirements into an industrial design that can be rapidly prototyped using 3D printing and later adapted for injection moulding.
Scope of work
Develop multiple design concepts for an innovative connector housing.
Design the complete 3D mechanical model.
Consider manufacturability and assembly.
Optimise geometry for flexibility, robustness and future sensor integration.
Prepare files suitable for rapid prototyping (STL) and manufacturing (STEP).
Deliverables
3–5 initial design concepts.
Final 3D CAD assembly.
STEP, STL and native CAD files.
Technical drawings.
Recommendations for manufacturing.
Preferred experience
Mechanical product design.
Plastic parts and injection moulding.
Precision components.
Fibre-optic connectors or telecom hardware (preferred but not mandatory).
Experience with SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar professional CAD software.
