About the job
The Opportunity
We are looking for a seasoned Matsuura expert to serve as a remote consulting partner as we stand up the shop. This is not a hands-on machining role — it is a strategic and technical advisory engagement. You will have direct access to the founder and real influence over how this operation is designed and run.
What we need guidance on:
Matsuura machine selection, configuration, and capability optimization
PALLETECH and pallet automation strategy for lights-out production
CAM programming standards and toolpath strategy for Matsuura platforms
DNC setup and machine communication
Software stack architecture — connecting job submission, scheduling, machine monitoring, and inspection
MES and ERP integration for automated workflow management
Best practices for running unattended shifts — tooling strategy, probing, in-process inspection, alarm management
Operational KPIs and how to instrument the shop from day one
Who We're Looking For
Deep, firsthand experience with Matsuura machining centers — ideally horizontal, 5-axis, or the MX series
Direct experience running or setting up lights-out or highly automated production environments
Working knowledge of the software ecosystem: CAM, DNC, PALLETECH, MES, ERP
Someone who has made mistakes setting up automation and learned from them
Opinionated — we want your real recommendations, not just options
The Engagement
Flexible structure — hourly advisory, retainer, or project-based. We are open to...

Flexible structure — hourly advisory, retainer, or project-based. We are open to what works for the right person. This is a long-term relationship as the shop scales, not a one-time project.
To Express Interest
Describe your Matsuura experience and one thing you would do differently if you were setting up a lights-out shop from scratch today.
Pay: Negotiable, we will pay the asking price for the right programmer. Tell us if you like an hourly rate, per part or monthly consulting fee. For the right candidate, we will pay you what you feel is fair.
