About the job
Project Brief (What I Need Designed)
I need a simple stainless steel vacuum chamber and external coil layout for a small countertop water distiller. This is ONLY the mechanical shell and mounting points, no internal electronics or special internals.
Please design:
Main Chamber
Material: SS304
Shape: Vertical cylinder
Outer diameter: 250 mm
Height: 300 mm
Wall thickness: 2 mm
Bottom: flat, welded
Bottom plate:
4 × M6 threaded inserts arranged in a square, centered, on the inside bottom (for a removable heater plate, you just place the holes).
Bottom drain:
1 × 1/4" NPT drain port at the lowest point, oriented downwards.
Inlet (Feed Water Nozzle Port)
Location: Side wall, 80 mm above bottom (centerline).
Connection: 1/4" NPT female threaded boss welded to side wall (I will install my own spray nozzle).
Steam Outlet / Vacuum Port
Location: Top center of the lid.
Connection: 1 × 25 mm OD stub pipe, 50 mm long, vertical.
This will serve as both steam outlet and vacuum connection (to be connected to my external condenser/piping).
External Coil Mounts (Preheat Coil Around Chamber)
Around the outside of the cylinder, please add simple guides/tabs for a 1/4" copper tube coil:
4 vertical “ears” or tabs spaced at 90° around the circumference, with slots or holes so I can tie/clamp a 1/4" tube coil to the outside of the chamber.
Coil height region: from 50 mm above bottom to 250 mm (do not interfere with ports).

Top Lid / Access
Design the top as a removable lid:
Either a clamped flange or bolt ring.
Include a circumferential groove or flat for an O‑ring (I will specify seal later).
Lid must seal under light vacuum (~200 mbar absolute).
Steam Path Mount in Lid
On the underside of the lid, directly under the 25 mm outlet, add:
A simple circular flat area (about 60 mm diameter) with 4× M4 through holes around it, 90° apart, on a 40 mm pitch circle.
This is for mounting my internal insert (you don’t design the insert, just the mounting pattern).
Supports / Feet
Add 3 or 4 simple short legs or base pads so the chamber stands stable on a flat surface.
Total unit height including feet: roughly 320–340 mm.
Deliverables
3D model: STEP (.step) and native file (SolidWorks / Fusion / Inventor).
2D manufacturing drawings (PDF + DWG/DXF) with all key dimensions, tolerances suitable for sheet metal/fabrication.
Exploded view or simple assembly drawing showing lid, body, and coil mounts.
Notes
Treat all internals as generic: no need to design heaters, coils, or special internals.
Design for ease of fabrication by a typical stainless steel shop.
This is for vacuum distillation, so avoid sharp internal corners where stress may concentrate; use reasonable fillets.
