About the job
We are seeking an experienced CAD designer with proven expertise in sheet metal design and enclosure engineering to finalise the production-ready files for a custom digital smart board housing. This project is not just visual, it must be fully ready for manufacturing by Chinese and local (Australian) sheet metal fabricators.
You will be working from a partially completed DWG, 2D & Step models, which requires clean-up, refinement, and delivery of a complete fabrication handover pack based on factory requirements.
Deliverables Required:
3D STEP (.stp) Files
- Full assembly
- Each individual component
DXF Files
- For all laser-cut sheet metal parts
- With bend lines where applicable
2D Technical Drawings
- With dimensions, tolerances, material callouts
- Including hole sizes, surface treatments, and notes
Exploded Assembly Drawing
- Showing how the enclosure comes together
- For factory reference
Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Listing each part, material (e.g. 3mm aluminium alloy), surface finish (e.g. powder coat), quantity
- Hinge & Lock Assembly Details
- Hinge placement
- Locking mechanism specifications
Polycarbonate/Glass Panel Dimensions
- Final glass/acrylic front cover sizing
Revisions to Ensure Manufacturability
- Adjustments to structure if needed for better welding/sealing or improved internal fit
- You’ll be supported with real feedback from multiple manufacturers

Who This Job Is For:
- Someone with real-world experience designing metal enclosures (sheet metal, kiosks, electrical cabinets, or similar)
- Knows how to meet IP65/IP66 style sealing (welded construction, gasketing, ventilation)
- Understands fabrication processes (laser cutting, folding, welding)
- Can work independently, quickly, and deliver clean, professional files
This is a serious hardware product and the successful candidate will be considered for ongoing design work across multiple similar units we are producing.
