Create/modify drawings - CAD Proficiency- Use AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 2D/3D drafting tools
∙Knowledge of design fundamentals –
* Identify assembly parameters from drawings and validate part suggestions
*Understand part/ components geometry (like in Gear- tooth profile, module,
pressure angle, helix angle, gear mesh calculations)
*Typical material selections methods- against strength & fatigue criteria
*Applying basic strength, fatigue, and backlash calculations for assembly parts (say gears / bearings) i.e. Mechanical sizing and analysis
*Ensuring by design standard that suggested part meet performance criteria
*Know how to create Bill-of-material creation from CAD drawings (extract quantities, assign part numbers
*Knowledge of international standards like ISO 2768, ASME etc.
* Able to create/maintain a structured parts database (Excel/CSV) with part numbers, dimensions, materials, and mechanical properties.
