About the job
We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to create high-quality 3D models for physical scale models. The ideal candidate will be responsible for converting sketches, references, and design specifications into precise, printable 3D CAD files. These models will be used for 3D printing, CNC fabrication, and prototype development.
You will work closely with designers and engineers to ensure accurate scaling, correct details, structural integrity, and print-ready geometry.
3D Modelling:
1. Create detailed 3D CAD drawings of ships, vehicles, buildings, mechanical components, or other models as required.
2. Convert 2D sketches, reference images, or technical drawings into accurate 3D models.
3. Ensure proportional accuracy when working with scale models (1:50, 1:100, 1:200, etc.).
3D Print Preparation:
1. Prepare models for FDM, SLA, or SLS 3D printing.
2. Ensure correct wall thickness, manifold geometry, and watertight surfaces.
3. Split large models into printable sections with clean joining features.
4. Apply design rules for supports, overhangs, clearances, and tolerances.
Technical Documentation:
1. Produce detailed technical drawings, exploded views, and assembly sheets.
2. Provide STL/OBJ and STEP export files ready for manufacturing.
3. Maintain version control and organized drawing files.
Quality & Verification:
1. Perform mesh checks (non-manifold detection, reverse normals, intersecting surfaces).
