About the job
Hi! I have a rough 3D model of a polygon-style lounge chair (OBJ file attached) that I want to develop into a manufacturable product made from aluminium sheet metal.
The current model is just a visual starting point, the final design does not need to follow it exactly, and I expect the geometry will change during the process to better suit manufacturing and structural requirements.
I’m looking for help creating a production-ready CAD model and technical documentation for sheet metal fabrication. Deliverables should include:
• A clean 3D CAD model optimised for manufacturing
• Flattened DXF files of each panel for laser cutting
• Bolt or tab-slot joints for simple assembly (welding is optional)
• Optional bend lines to increase strength or reduce part count
• Assembly diagram or exploded view
• Material recommendation (e.g. 5–6 mm aluminium)
• Rough weight estimate and basic structural consideration (must support adult weight)
Ideal tools: SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar.
The goal is to prototype and eventually produce this as a real chair. Let me know if you have relevant experience with metal furniture or polygon-style sheet metal design.
