About the job
Overview:
We are a UK-based high-tech startup focused on developing and manufacturing innovative thermoplastic polymer products. We are looking for a hands-on Prototype & Materials Engineer to lead R&D projects involving advanced thermoplastic composites made from continuous fibres (carbon, glass, etc.).
Role Summary:
You will be responsible for developing prototype components and managing R&D projects that explore new thermoplastic composite materials and processes. The role combines materials engineering, process development, and project management, working closely with internal teams and external innovation partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead prototype and material development activities for thermoplastic composite components.
Manage the full project lifecycle — from planning to testing and validation.
Conduct materials selection and performance testing for fibres, resins, and composites.
Support process development for forming, consolidation, and testing of composite parts.
Collaborate with external manufacturing partners and research institutions.
Contribute to documentation, reporting, and IP generation.
