Description:
We are seeking an architectural designer to review ADU01 from the BC Standardized Housing Design Catalogue and develop it into a permit-ready plan set except for some items as noted at the end of this post. This job is focused on the primary structural elements of the building itself; the other plans, surveys, and landscaping to be added at a later date.
Scope (This Project):
- Develop a complete CAD plan set for ADU01.
- Ensure compliance with BC Building Code and municipal permitting standards.
- Emphasis on structure and safety (Braced wall panels, handrails & guards, etc)
- MEP scope: include only essential fixture symbols and code-required notes (e.g., plumbing fixture layout, HRV location, smoke/CO detectors). Full MEP design and load calculations will be handled by trades/engineers during permitting
Purpose:
This is a pilot project to establish workflow, quality, and compatibility. If successful, additional work will follow:
- Other designs from the BC catalogue.
- Designs from other jurisdictions
- Variations of existing catalogue units (ex. substituting a hip roof with a low-slope roof).
What We’re Looking For:
- Background in architectural design with proven experience in permit-ready drawings.
- Familiarity with the BC building code and municipal submission standards - Specifically for Victoria BC.

- All intellectual property and usage rights will transfer to us upon payment. We require exclusive ownership of the adapted plan sets.
- We prefer Revit files but may accept AutoCAD drafting for the pilot project.
