About the job
We are seeking an experienced CAD designer or mechanical engineer to help us develop a
high-end, flat-packable hardwood bed frame with integrated restraint points and a modular,
IKEA-style assembly system.
This is not a generic bed. This is a product for a luxury lifestyle brand in the BDSM/intimacy
space, and it must be structurally engineered for anchor-based restraint, discreet elegance, and
flat-pack fulfillment.
We already have clear reference imagery, design direction, and functional requirements. Now
we need a capable designer to turn it into a manufacturable CAD system with proper
engineering.
What You’ll Be Designing
A queen/king-sized luxury hardwood bed frame that:
● Breaks down into flat-packable modules (posts, rails, slats)
● Ships in 2–3 boxes (<100 lbs each)
● Is assembled with standard tools in under 30 minutes
● Includes load-rated anchor points for restraint use (300 lb lateral force minimum)
● Is visually minimal and masculine, with concealed joinery or aesthetic bolts
● Optionally includes a bolt-on “stockade” panel (a locking headboard restraint accessory
— separate line item)
Deliverables
● Full 3D CAD files (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, etc.)
● Exploded views of assembly
● Bill of Materials (BOM) with joinery and hardware spec (bolts, D-rings, steel brackets)
● Flat-pack packaging layout (dimensions, box count, weight estimate)
● Assembly instructions (PDF or Sketch-style overview with part labels)
● Optional: high-end p...

Ideal Candidate Has
● Experience with knock-down furniture or IKEA-style engineering
● Strong mechanical CAD skills (wood + steel bracket joinery preferred)
● Knowledge of CNC routing or DFM/DFA for small batch production
● Understanding of structural stability, bolt-through hardware, and packaging logic
● (Bonus) Experience in furniture, BDSM/lifestyle products, or modular product design
Timeline
We’d like to begin immediately. Project delivery window: 3–5 weeks from kickoff.
What to Include in Your Proposal
● Portfolio samples (preferably modular furniture or structural designs)
● Your preferred CAD software
● Estimated timeline
● Your proposed rate (hourly or fixed)
● Any questions about the scope or specs
Note
All files, IP, and designs are to be owned by the client upon final delivery (standard
work-for-hire). A simple NDA will be signed before full spec sharing.
Additional Notes
We will provide:
● Visual references from a successful UK product we’re improving upon
● Annotated screenshots
● Rough dimensions and anchor locations
● Packaging and flat-pack requirements
This is an opportunity to help bring a visually striking, emotionally charged product to life —
where luxury design meets discreet power.
