We are seeking a freelance Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably located in the Northeast U.S., to support the development of a UL-listed freeze stat device for commercial HVAC applications. You will work in close collaboration with our electrical engineer to ensure the mechanical layout supports all internal components, wiring, and switching mechanisms.

Metal enclosure (NEMA 1, powder-coated)
Capillary mounting clip layout (5 clip layout)
Terminal block mounting and fitment
Labeling and dial window
Bracket mounting design
Push-to-reset mechanism (manual reset model only)
Ensure design complies with UL 873 & 60730-1 mounting and safety considerations.
CAD deliverables required for:
Auto and Manual Reset versions
20 ft
Assist in finalizing design for manufacturing (DFM) for stamping, punching, and folding steel or aluminum.
Files must be optimized for vendors to produce prototypes and tooling quotes.
Requirements:
Strong background in HVAC mechanical product development or control device enclosures.
