About the job
OVERVIEW
We are developing a precision measurement instrument for electrical safety testing. We need an experienced engineer to design (and preferably build) an analog front-end board that plugs into an off-the-shelf STM32H747I-DISCO development kit. We write the measurement firmware ourselves. A detailed hardware specification (circuit values, parts candidates, layout rules, test plan) is ready and will be shared with shortlisted bidders under NDA.
KEY REQUIREMENTS (summary — full detail in the specification)
- Mixed-signal board: mains-rated protected input, precision attenuators, low-noise amplifiers (including one low-level input with x100 low-noise gain), 4th-order anti-alias filters, and a 16-bit 4-channel simultaneous-sampling ADC (AD7380-4) at about 1.5 MS/s with an external precision reference.
- Accuracy: overall measurement within 1% from 60 Hz to 100 kHz; each channel flat within ±0.5% to 150 kHz before calibration.
- Safety: the input must survive a 240 V rms fault without damage; relay-based input protection with a hardware trip; creepage and clearance designed to IEC 61010-1.
- Interface: SPI data lines, relay control and trip signal to the DISCO kit's expansion connectors (adapter board acceptable if needed).
- Quantity: 3 or 5 assembled boards.
SCOPE AND MILESTONES (each approved in writing before the next starts)
1. Schematic and parts list: schematic (PDF), parts list (Excel/CSV) with manufacturer part numbers and alternates, ERC report, and a...

- Quantity: 3 or 5 assembled boards.
SCOPE AND MILESTONES (each approved in writing before the next starts)
1. Schematic and parts list: schematic (PDF), parts list (Excel/CSV) with manufacturer part numbers and alternates, ERC report, and a data-path analysis (short PDF report: pin table, timing budget for one sample frame, timing diagram, DMA data-rate check, fallback) showing every ADC sample reaches the processor's memory at 1.5 MS/s with margin.
2. Layout before fabrication: PDF plots of every layer, Gerber and drill files, 3D view, stack-up, DRC report.
3. Boards delivered: assembled boards, editable design source files, Gerbers, drill and pick-and-place files, assembly drawing, and an acceptance test report with measured values, raw data files, test setup photos and instruments used. Acceptance covers gain, frequency response, anti-alias attenuation, noise, data path, relay trip time and a 240 V fault test.
All review files must open without your design software (PDF, Excel/CSV, Gerber, plain-text reports). All design files and footprints belong to us.
PLEASE QUOTE SEPARATELY
a) Design only (milestones 1 and 2, plus design support during build)
b) Fabrication, assembly and acceptance testing: 3 boards and 5 boards
c) Optional: bring-up firmware (ADC driver with DMA at 1.5 MS/s, relay and trip handling, raw data logger, source code delivered)
Give a price and lead time for each milestone.
IN YOUR BID, PLEASE ANSWER
1. Describe one precision measurement or data-acquisition board you designed (accuracy achieved, ADC used) and, if possible, one mains-connected design.
2. Have you designed to IEC 61010-1 (or UL 61010) creepage and clearance rules?
3. Can you fabricate, assemble and test the boards yourself or through a partner? Do you have a bench with a precision multimeter, signal generator and oscilloscope?
4. Which design tool do you use (Altium, KiCad, other)?
5. Who will do the work (you alone or a team), your location and time zone, and your availability per week?
6. Your earliest start date and total timeline.
7. Any concerns or questions about the requirements above.
Bids that do not answer these questions will not be considered. Shortlisted bidders will receive the full specification under NDA.
Location: US-based preferred; others considered with a clear plan for fabrication, assembly and testing.
Desired start: In a month. Target for boards delivered: ASAP
