About the job
Our outdoor enclosure is (about 2.9 m x 1.1 m). We already have a complete design (STEP, PDF and DXF, about 29 parts) and now need it re-engineered for cost-effective production.
**The project:** Rework the existing enclosure into two production-ready versions:
**1. Thin-sheet metal version:** reduced sheet thickness and the right material for each part.
**2. FRP version:** the outer body as a moulded FRP shell, with the internal parts adapted to fit it.
The outer look stays the same, though it can be refined after discussion. The internal mechanism must keep working as it does now.
**Responsibilities**
Study the existing design and understand how the product works and is used
Propose materials, thicknesses and manufacturing methods for each part
Discuss options and trade-offs (cost, weight, strength, looks, ease of making) with us before modelling
Redesign the parts for both versions, following design-for-manufacturing practice
Keep us updated proactively with regular calls/via group message and progress shares, not only at final delivery
Answer fabricator questions during quoting and the first build
**Requirements:**
3+ years in mechanical product design, with products that have actually been manufactured
Strong sheet-metal design: laser cutting, press-brake bending, riveting and welding, flat patterns
Hands-on knowledge of FRP or composite parts (draft, wall thickness, inserts, moulds)
Good understanding of materials and costing; able to sugge...

Good understanding of materials and costing; able to suggest the cheapest sensible way to make a part
Experience with outdoor products, enclosures, kiosks or signage preferred
SolidWorks preferred (Fusion 360 or Creo acceptable)
Clear, proactive communicator, comfortable with calls in English (Hindi or Telugu a plus)
Hyderabad or Bangalore a plus
**Deliverables:**
Native CAD files plus STEP for both versions
PDF drawings and DXF flat patterns for every part
Bill of materials with quantities, materials and finishes
Assembly drawing and a short summary of the changes made
**Timeline and budget:**
Duration: 15-20 days, starting immediately
Budget: ₹15,000 to ₹18,000
NDA required; all design files and IP belong to RADO
**To apply, send:**
Two or three products you designed that went into production (photos or drawings)
Your tools and years of experience
In two or three lines: how would you make a 2.9 m long outdoor metal enclosure lighter and cheaper to produce?
No beginners, please. We are looking for someone who has taken designs through to manufacturing.
