About the job
Hello,
I am looking for an experienced mechanical/product development engineer to improve and innovate an odor-blocking cartridge for a floor drain.
An initial CAD design already exists. However, I am not looking for someone to simply modify or redraw it. I need an engineer who can critically analyze the current mechanism and develop a better, practical, and innovative solution.
The work should include:
* Review and identify weaknesses in the existing design.
* Develop 2–3 alternative mechanical concepts for the odor-blocking mechanism.
* Compare the concepts based on odor sealing, water flow, clogging resistance, reliability, maintenance, and manufacturing cost.
* Recommend the best concept.
* Develop the selected concept into a complete CAD design suitable for prototyping and eventual injection molding.
The objective is to create a commercially strong product that is reliable, simple, easy to maintain, and genuinely improved over common floor-drain odor-blocking cartridges.
Please apply only if you have strong experience in mechanical product development, mechanism design, DFM, and prototyping, and can contribute engineering innovation—not only CAD modeling.
Please briefly explain how you would approach this project and provide examples of similar mechanical/product development work.
Thank you.
