Important advice for “payment pending” contests

A payment pending contest means the client hasn’t completed a payment for their contest and has posted an unpaid project. See how prepaid and payment pending contests are different for more information.

Important notes for “payment pending” contests:

  • Work description: Make sure the client knows exactly what they want by encouraging full details on colors, dimensions, materials, sketches, and explaining the end use for the design.
  • Comments: Make sure the client is responding to designer comments and questions.
  • Messages: Make sure the client is responsive if you’re sending private messages.
  • Last login: Check the client’s last login time to ensure the contest is active and that the client is reviewing design entries on a daily basis. The last login is important, since no recent logins may indicate an abandoned contest.
  • Payment: Politely encourage the client to make a payment prior to spending a lot of time on work.
  • Budget: We want to make sure the winning designer is generously compensated for their work. We encourage users to politely request a budget increase if the prize is way out of line (i.e. $3/hr for the winner).
