yes, arms will be encapsulated inside the leg along with the CYL, thats why i was asking the Cyl dia to incorporate it the design.

yes pin's dia can be upsized, according to my calculations, it will be having factor of safety of ~2 if we make them 75mm. but i will make 60mm if you have calculated. secondly can you share hydraulic Cyl's full extended length & dead length so i can adjust the distances to ensure proper angles at opening and closing. i have a point that, arms should not be completely parallel to each other while closing (closed against pipe body) if that happens arms might lock against each other. so it should be kept at some angle can be placed if i know the full extended length of cyl.
and can you please open the message panel so i can explain stuff using images it will be convenient.

Hi Ghufran,
The arms need to support on both sides of the pins, not just 1 as currently shown. Otherwise they will bend and fail when piston is extended.
The pins all need to be upsized to 60mm diameter -due to updated loading calculations performed.

Hi Ghufran,
Your redesigned arms looks better, will they fold inside each other when collapsed?
Also is it possible to upsize all the pins in the moving parts to 60 mm diameter, as calculations performed indicate current size may fail.
The hydraulic piston should be dimensioned to fit inside the arms when fully retracted (closed against pipe body).
When the hydraulic piston is at full extended stroke, the connecting arms should be locked out straight, with the main legs at 45 deg as per you schematic. When the piston retracts, the arms should fold up.
There is flexibility in the design if needed to make everything fit - so you can adjust the distance between clamps by +- 40cm if required.

Hi Ghufran,
Thanks for the schematics, good job!
The parts for the arms (no 5) in the BOQ, need to be redesigned, the pins connecting need to be encapsulated so the structure is more stable, as the pistons will apply up to 50 Tons of force to extend the arms.
