I had to alter the shape of the upper section to enclose the camera case, I notice too that the lens projects below the skids an might be subject to damage when landing, I used G15 dimensions.

Another issue is the lens offset for the G15, it means that when the lens is central in the UAV the body encroaches one side into the battery space if the camera is mounted widthwise. The dimensions are as you defined with 8" width I think we would need to widen the pod to make it work. I can send you an E drawing so you can interrogate the model yourself with the Solidworks free viewer but I need an email address to send to and I am not sure we are allowed to do that.

I think that 40.1 mm is just the camera body without the lens attached, I have a dimension of 110mm with the lens. The battery packs are 145 x 43 x 21 with them mounted flat the width with the camera sideways is 86 + 107 so we only have 7.2mm total clearance to fit everything and we still need to allow for some moulded ridges to screw the top and bottom together unless you plan to bond the parts after moulding.
Are you planning to award me the job? Otherwise I am doing a lot of work for potentially no return

Hmm.... something is not right there. Based on our measurements, the G15 should fit in the pod width wise and still be inside the pod when set at the widest field of view (not telephoto) We currently use the Panasonic LX2 and LX3 model and with the lens fully extended it is 2-3/4". The lens barrel is approx. 1/4" from the bottom of the pod. The width of that same camera is approx 4-1/4".
The Canon webpage lists this as dimensions for the G15 - 4.20 x 2.99 x 1.58 in. / 106.6 x 75.9 x 40.1mm so it is only a hair larger that what we are currently using. Might need to check the inside dims on the pod or double check the cam specs but the pod in the image looks a little small.

I was able to use some of your images to replicate the shape by using "surface modelling" technique then adding thickness. I have been thinking about the mould construction so the parts can be injection moulded easily and am currently assembling the battery pack etc into the base part so they will be restrained in all directions with bulkheads to stiffen the structure. I should have the hatch and base today for you.

Aretech, your design appears to be VERY close to what I am looking for. Have you made any considerations for the hatch cut out and how it might close/open? Have you done the catamaran bottom? Looking really good!
