i have attached some kind of hook you see in the image. The hook will hold tight the upper rubber band. the main reason is you can change the band color as per your style. or you can remove the rubber band.

Hi Ravi, per the STL files, currently there are 2 parts:
1. The base (HEB v2 rigid.stl)
2. The band (HEB v2.stl)

The base is sub-set into the band (where the lips intersect), and the base is then attached to the mobile device.

This allows the band to rotate 360 degrees around the base, and give the user the ability to rotate the phone horizontally while using it.

The band is one part, but created in two steps:
a. A hard polymer is poured/injected into the mold to make outer circle of the band
b. A soft polymer like santoprene is poured/injected into the mold to make the flexible part of the band, this fuzes with (a)

While your concept of changing the band part is an interesting one, we can get about the same effect with the 2 part assembly that looks a bit more cohesive.

Hi Ravi, thanks so much for submitting your design idea to my contest!!

I do think the idea is a good one conceptually, but the main draw back to it is that it would require an additional mold for the top band part.

So instead of 2 molds, there would be 3 molds (base, ring, band). The initial design of this item did contemplate 3 parts, but a prototyping company came up with the idea of the band being a single over-molded part (plastic with rubber over-mold).

Also, the base part shown (the part that attaches to the phone) in your diagram has 4 notches. The part we have has a single lip around the entire perimeter of the base which should allow the ring to rotate more smoothly than 4 notches.

Really like the concept, but those above items would keep me from wanting to execute on this design :)
