I designed a mechanism that fulfills your requirement. This device works with worm gear motor and includes two separate sections, static and dynamic sections. The dynamic section has a movement tolerance of 45 degrees and has adjusting screw for the range of motion. The body is made of plastic which is armed with metal plates for its strengths. The motor and battery pack mounted to side so that it can be used on the bed and also the rod will be cover with a fixable material so you can use it under the blanket.
