Forget the stereotype. Forget what the perfume industry does.

Here is Why, How & What we do:

Why? Because...

-People are looking for a signature fragrance.
-The shopping experience is bad.
-The Industry is innovation deprived.
- We want to bring the fragrance shopping experience home by breaking the barrier of scent across a screen.

With the help of perfumers & social psychologists have smelled and studied all 24000+ Fragrances in the Market;
To find your signature fragrance in 4 Easy Steps:

1- Take the SCENT CHARACTER ANALYSIS (an interactive online questionnaire where you answer questions on perfume mood/personality, perfume season, diet, skin type, age, preferences, etc) Attached: Main Page, Scent Character Analysis. After consumers finish this test, they provide their details and we send them a special sample box.
2- Receive your unique selected perfume results (based on questions answered) in a package containing 5 samples (5 x 1 mL samples of your results) Attached: Sample Picture And their dimensions. Samples are labelled by numbers and need to log on to discover the story behind each fragrance and why chosen for you.
3- Login to discover what those mystery fragrances are. Smell the fragrance and pick you signature fragrance. Attached: The discovery page.
4- buy the bottle or subscribe to our membership: A 15 mL rebottled version of your fragrance with your name engraving for about 30/40$/month. Attached: 15 mL Membership bottle and the replenishment bottle.

AURA (Attached: Logo) is an online perfume Subscription business that breaks the barrier of smelling across a screen
Its Mission: To find your Signature Perfume, using an Algorithm.

The Brand: The Art & Science of Self-Expression; Through Scent

The Persona: A Young (30s) Q (Q from James Bond) Who's a refined man, Scientist, Artist, Charming, Crisp, Sophisticated, In a suit and on top of it a lab coat. He takes tremendous pride in his expertise and innovation in meeting the needs of the people he serves.

The Brand Guidelines: Attached (aura guidelines)

The Target Audience:

Demographic: Upper Class, 20-44, unisex.
Psychographic segment:
1- Hedonistic & Narcissistic (Fashionistas). What they consume either elevates them in the social hierarchy or keeps them where they are. Pricing is therefore a signaling mechanism. They fear Looking inconsistent - Losing their rank in the social hierarchy - Losing their appeal - Being caught wearing ''fake'' - Products PUSHED at them - Missing out. They yearn for: Become rich & famous - Moving up the social hierarchy - Being more confident in their skin - Feeling more unique (internally & externally). Worldviews: Pessimistic - Hedonistic - Selfish - Not politically opinionated.

2- Intellectuals. What they consume is routed in reason & hollistic Value (time saved, benefits, price signal, quality). They fear: Being inconsistent or seeming stupid - not fulfilling their life's purpose/dreams - The unfolding of a dim future - Not getting their version of a deal - PUSH Advertising - Wasting Time. They yearn for: Becoming wealthy - a life of fulfilment & abundance - Great service. Worldviews: Optimists - Skeptics - Self-less - Libertarian.

The Requirements of the Contest:

1- A package that contains 5 x 1 mL samples (step 2/3 of experience)
2- A package for our 15 mL membership packaging (step 4 of experience)
3- A simple package for the monthly replenishment bottle.
4- Additional cards that come with each of the above boxes with instructions
5- A bag that holds the above packages (to be shipped by courier company)
6- A gift box that contains the attached picture (test tube that has the customized message and what to do next - log on to receive sample box of 5 samples)

Boxes I personally like:
-Imaginary authors box packaging
-Boss the collection fragrance box
- Macallan boxes
- Louis Vuitton Boxes
- Penhaligons Anthology eau sans pareil box
- Tag Heuer The Connected's box

All vector based document should be accompanied by measurements.
Executable industrial design that can be submitted directly to manufacturers to produce.

The restrictions:

The requirement is to meet the luxury quality of the niche perfumery brands, while exceeding the expectations in creativity by re-imagining what fragrance packaging is.

1- Tactile multiple layered packaging material that builds tension after every layer is remove.
2- Sample packaging and 15 mL packaging should be recognizably linked with similar elements + materials.
3- Packaging should consider unboxing "unveiling" with a surprise
4- Packaging should be within shipping courier standards
5- Packaging should involve traditional craftsmanship and futuristic look/feel
6- Japanese minimalism
7- Clever use of material in unconventional ways

Emotional Response:
1. People that experience the package want to share on social media (there is excitement in opening)
2. People do not want to throw away the box
3. tells our brand story (artsy, futuristic/game changing, scientific)
4. Honest luxury
Don't Wants:
Just a simple boring luxury box. Having high quality and luxury feel is just the beginning.

No link to the brand identity of a expert using art and science to find your perfect fragrance.

Something that requires incredibly expensive materials and is completely impractical
Ask for Sample:
Samples are required from the finalists. The winner is required to make (3x) functional product of each of the following: 1. Samples package (with directions) 2. 15ml subscription package (with directions) 3. Simple Packaging for 15ml monthly replenishment 4. Gift Box (with test tube containing gift message/promo code)

@franznoise You make a valid point. But given that we're a startup with very limited capabilities that hasnt launched yet, theres only so much we can do right now. I can assure you that there will be a product contest on here as soon as revenue starts coming in. And would surely love to hear about your ideas. Lets talk this in private :)

i don't understand why if you want the best super fashion futuristic intelligent packaging design, the bottle design looks so cheap ! Maybe you first have to design a new super cool bottle! let me know, i have some great ideas in mind.

Hi aboudy, Thank you for the clarification. Designers need to have some kind of assurance that their efforts won't go in vain. Assurance can be given by doing simple things like providing feedback to the entries. It makes the designer feel that the buyer is really serious about the project. And I am sure that you will get quality work from the designers. Wish you all the best.

Actually, We will prepay.

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 06:00:22 +0000
@KP HARISANKAR I will definitely reimburse for the shipping and prototyping costs. The reason why Im not prepaying is that I cant ensure the number of submissions and thus the likelihood that I'll get what I want.
Wed, 01 Nov 2017 05:36:21 +0000
If you need quality designs you will have to prepay the prize and will have to reimburse the shipping and prototyping costs to the finalists since there is no 2nd or 3rd prize in the contest.
Wed, 01 Nov 2017 02:30:51 +0000
HI aboudy

I think, contest will attract more designers if you prepay this contest.

esencial costa rica spring water
Hello. I am currently developing a company based on costa rica premium bottled water. You can visit our site www.costaricaspringwater.com . You will see our mock up of a fiji bottle. However we need to modify the fiji bottle a bit for our own design plus we have a round bottle. I am attaching design briefs for both. I had a designer put them together but i need to take them to the next level with some renderings and if we like them then creating a 3D-XML file for each so that i can get my moulds made. Also as part of this project, i will need PET preform CAD design and Neck CAD design. I would like to be able to work with the designer and get their input on modifying the bottle designs i have already created. Our label attributes are similar to fiji as there is an outside front image, a back image and the inside of the back image. When you look through the water from the front, you see this inside back image (waterfall image).
