Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to give you an idea of what the next steps will be. Tomorrow morning around 8:00 am pacific standard time, I will stop accepting new entries. Around 10:00 am pacific standard time, I will kick off a survey of potential customers. It will run for 2 days or until I have enough responses. I will couple this data with my opinions and will award the winners Wednesday. Thanks for all your help!

I just wanted to let folks know that I prefer wheels between 0.5" and 1" in width.

In my requirements, the discussion about blade overlap is not clear. The deck should isolate each blade. It is the paths of the grass cut by the blades that should overlap when the robot is moving forward.

Yes. I will want source and STEP files.

Can we use other software instead of Solidworks?
Upon submission the design will be converted to STEP/IGES....
Is this acceptable?

The cameras identify the edge of the grass and other obstacles. I envision them to be pointed directly down, but they could be raised a few degrees. They should be mounted at least 5" off the ground. Based on the speed of the robot, they need a clear view at least 4" in front so they don&;t miss anything in front of the robot. The camera in back is less critical, but should have a clear view of at least a 1" and a mildly obstructed view of 2". Ideally these cameras would not be visible from the top, but instead would be hooded by the frame.

Simple Robots,
Could you be more specific about the camera function? or just rephrase: "The front camera needs an unobstructed view of a 4" strip in front. The back needs a and 2" strip behind the robot. Ideally this space would be inside the frame."

Thank you

I&;ve added 4 more days to the contest. I know it&;s tight, but I&;d rather not extend further. Thanks for your work.

Some things I missed while writing the brief:
1. The LCD screen should be 42.7mm x 59.3mm.
2. The user should be able to easily carry the unit. Ideally while they can still clearly see the LCD screen.
3. The cameras should be pointed down. Ideally they would not be visible to the user, but would be hooded by parts of the frame.

Hello Simple Robots,

I have just submitted a design for your consideration. All components in the design are of the dimensions you have specified in the brief. I am still working on the base station for the product but wanted to submit something to hopefully get some feedback. I would be happy to discuss the design in more detail if you would like to send me a private message.

Regards,

Simon

Mohamed, How long do you suggest? I do understand that I will get results that are a bit rough.

Mostafa, The idea is that the cameras need to see a space in front of the blade(s) and behind the blade clearly. The 4" and 2" are based on the proposed maximum speed of the robot so successive frames will overlap appropriately when the robot is moving at top speed.

can you extend the deadline since , it is very short time ti accomplish this design
