Engineering Meets Innovation: Designing Weather-Resistant Enclosures for Smart Camera Systems I’m excited to share insights into one of our ongoing mechanical design and product development projects involving a specialized enclosure for an advanced outdoor football recording system. ⚽📷 The project focuses on developing a compact, robust, and functional enclosure that integrates high-performance computing hardware, camera modules, and communication electronics while maintaining reliable operation in outdoor environments. 🔧 Key Engineering Challenges & Features: ✅ Custom 3D CAD enclosure design for outdoor applications with an IP65 weather-resistance target. ✅ Integration of NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB computing hardware, NVMe storage, and a 5G communication modem. ✅ Precision positioning of dual camera modules with a fixed 62° angle between their optical axes. ✅ Optimized internal component trays, camera holders, and complete cable routing. ✅ Sealed connector panels, external SIM card access, and suitable gasket and cable-sealing provisions. ✅ Thermal management and ventilation considerations for reliable electronic operation. ✅ Retention of reusable design elements, including the battery holder, buttons, and reinforced tripod mounting interface. ✅ Complete engineering deliverables, including native CAD files, STEP assemblies, STL models, exploded views, assembly drawings, BOM, and assembly instructions. 💡 Our Engineering Approach We believe successful product development is not just about creating an attractive enclosure.
