Industrial design and optimization project of a high-performance railway wheel. The objective of this project was to model a wheel geometry capable of withstanding heavy dynamic loads and thermal stresses from braking, while minimizing unsprung mass. Special focus was placed on the flange profile to reduce wear at the wheel-rail interface.
