Engineering Design: Developing detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings for critical furnace equipment, such as electrode systems, bus tubes, cooling elements, and shells. Thermal & Structural Analysis: Performing mechanical stress analysis, thermal calculations, and fluid dynamics assessments to ensure hardware integrity in extreme, high-heat environments. Project Lifecycle & Feasibility: Supporting projects from the initial "Bankable Feasibility Study" (BFS) through to execution, commissioning, and on-site troubleshooting. Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborating closely with Process Engineers to translate mass and energy balances into physical components while ensuring all designs adhered to SANS, ISO, and ASME safety-in-design standards. Procurement & Quality: Assisting in technical evaluations of vendor bids and conducting quality inspections during the fabrication phase to ensure engineering specifications were met.
