Suspension bridge over river Arda near Madjarovo, Bulgaria

The parameters of the wind load are determined in accordance with the recommendations in the regulations (Eurocodes). The calculations are made for a period of repeatability 50 years, agreed with the Employer. Wind induce vibrations and bridge aerodynamics are out of the scopes of eurocodes. Speed of basic wind flow averaged over ten-minute interval, Vb,o=27,7m/s; Pressure the basic wind flow averaged over ten-minute interval, qb,o=0,48 kN/m². Dynamic components of wind load: This analysis takes into account both aerostatic influences and vortex excitation and aeroelastic instability. Slender, light and flexible elements wind causes vibrations which in origin is illustrated by famous models. Applicable to the design situation are: -Vortex shedding; -Galloping; -Divergence and flutter; -Wake buffeting.
