Study model of railway bridge made by meccano
This project was undertaken by a University of Sydney student for his completion of Masters in Mechanical Engineering. I helped him with 3D modelling and modal vibration analysis in Ansys. It started with rough estimated dimension, some photographs of existing meccano bridge model and 2d drawings of it.
Then, I developed 3D model out of it and carried out simulation analysis to find natural frequency.
In existing model, they placed some accelerometers and calculated various frequencies in time domain. The data from accelerometers and simulation results are compared to ensure the results from both method satisfyingly improvised the accurate frequency.
