Giving family heirlooms a new life through organic CAD design and jewelry engineering! 🐢💎✨ When a client came to me with heirloom diamonds, she wanted more than just a safe reset — she dreamed of a bold, vibrant cocktail ring with a story. The result: a Sea Turtle Cocktail Ring sculpted in multi-tone gold, featuring her family diamonds alongside accent color stones and cold enamel detailing. Designing organic, fluid shapes while ensuring strict production requirements is always a rewarding challenge. Here is how this piece was engineered for seamless manufacturing: 🔹 Direct Casting Optimization: Calculated wall thicknesses, spruing strategy, and tolerances specifically configured for direct 3D resin printing and casting without porosity or shrinkage issues. 🔹 Multi-Tone Gold Construction: Modular assembly planned in CAD to ensure clean borders between different gold alloys without bleeding during polishing. 🔹 Heirloom & Accent Gemstone Layout: Precise seat geometries and prong placements designed specifically to fit the exact dimensions of the legacy diamonds and accent gems. 🔹 Enamel Recesses: Controlled depth channels engineered into the turtle’s shell structure to keep cold enamel durable and protected from daily wear. Bridging the gap between artistic organic forms and zero-defect manufacturing is what I enjoy most about jewelry CAD design.
