Ruroc Eox Product Development
A carbon composite helmet taken from concept to ECE 22.06 and DOT certification.
Lighter, safer, faster, with no part of it traded away.
Role · Lead design engineer
Sector · Performance sports & safety
Scope · Materials innovation, safety engineering, aerodynamics
Engagement · In house at Ruroc, before Enki was founded
The challenge
The brief demanded advances across multiple disciplines at once: a lighter composite shell without sacrificing impact protection, improved ventilation without compromising aerodynamics, and seamless visor integration that met two international safety standards. Every design decision carried trade offs that required deep engineering judgement.
The approach
The material innovation at the core of the EOX is a new composite formulation, T300 carbon fibre reinforced with Kevlar, nylon and fibreglass, delivering the lightest and most robust shell Ruroc has produced. Integrated RHEON reactive polymer and multi density impact liners protect against both direct and rotational forces.
The outcome
The EOX is ECE 22.06 and DOT certified, carries the lightest carbon composite shell in Ruroc's history, and set a new industry benchmark for the company's premium helmet range. A redesigned spoiler, a six point ventilation system and refined contours complete the performance package.
Our role
Ben led development of the EOX from concept through to certified production, working across materials innovation, safety engineering and aerodynamic refinement. This work was carried out in his role as lead design engineer at Ruroc, before Enki was founded.
“Ben's combination of technical expertise, quick execution, and clear communication makes him an exceptional engineer.”
