Red Bull X CFD Analysis
The Red Bull X was an unrestricted concept car created by Gran Turismo and one of the best motorsport designers, Adrian Newey. It's a creation that likely drew inspiration for his future involvement with the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
Weighing 600 kg, equipped with a V6 Biturbo engine (1,500 hp) at 15,000 rpm, it could easily surpass 400 km/h. Its first version included a fan to improve the performance of ground effect. This meant that in the game, it could complete a lap of the Suzuka circuit almost 30 seconds faster than the current Formula 1 cars. Imagine the G-forces that would generate.
The following considerations were taken into account:
· Ground motion.
· Rotating wheels.
· Airbox.
· Specific control volume for the front wing, rear wing and diffuser.
· Zero degrees of inclination.
· Material deflections were not considered.
I did three simulations at different speeds (25, 50, and 75 m/s) with the aim of creating an approximate graph of Drag and Downforce.
From a physical standpoint were considered, factors such as:
· Gravity.
· K-Omega SST turbulent model.
· Boundary layer.
· Constant density.
· Temperature of 27°C.
· Sea-level atmospheric pressure.
· Blockage factor.
