Polycarbonate Snap-Lock | SOLIDWORKS Nonlinear Contact Analysis

Designed a polycarbonate cantilever snap-fit for a small enclosure and evaluated insertion in SOLIDWORKS using a Makrolon 2405 nonlinear material curve, large displacement and frictional contact (assumed coefficient 0.20). Over 4.5 mm travel, the model predicts 11.19 MPa peak von Mises stress, 0.710 mm transverse bending and a 5.81 nominal yield-screening ratio against a 65 MPa reference. Deliverables include parametric CAD, material definition, native stress and deformation plots, contact diagnostics, a two-mesh sensitivity comparison and stress-travel animation. The meshes differ by 3.81% in stress and 0.09% in bending. The reversible nonlinear-elastic model assesses insertion response; service-life and physical qualification form separate validation stages.
