Planetary gearbox 5:1 - assembly and cutaway animation (concept)
Frames from the film; the film itself is the MP4 in the download files.
A self-initiated concept animation of my own design study: a single-stage planetary gearbox, ratio 5:1, modelled from parameters with Python in Blender. In one continuous camera move the exploded parts assemble in a buildable order: the output bearings and circlip go into the housing, then the carrier, the oil seal and key, the three planet stacks with needle roller cages, the sun shaft into mesh, the input bearing, the motor adapter and four M6 screws that turn in by their 1.0 mm pitch. Then a quarter of the housing lifts off and the gear train runs: the sun at 0.5 rev/s, the carrier and output shaft at 1/5 of that, the planets orbiting and turning with the exact speed ratios, so the teeth stay in mesh in every frame. Rendered in Cycles, 20 s, 1920x1080, 30 fps, silent.
