Pin and Lug Contact Analysis | Abaqus FEA and Friction Sensitivity

An independent MENO SIM engineering case study exploring load transfer between a rigid pin and an elastic lug in Abaqus. The work extends a documented frictionless model with a friction sensitivity study. It includes geometry and boundary-condition review, nonlinear surface contact, structured meshing, solved analysis files, stress and displacement interpretation, and reaction-force checks. The gallery shows genuine Abaqus results and an engineering chart extracted from the solved databases. The mesh comparison distinguishes stable overall response from more sensitive local contact quantities. Workflow captures, editable model files, numerical data and a technical guide document the analysis. This project demonstrates my approach to mechanical simulation: define the assumptions, build a traceable model, check the results and explain the engineering limitations. This is an idealized elastic demonstration, not a commissioned client project or a production strength certification. The friction coefficient is an assumed study parameter; local contact shear requires further investigation before design use. MENO SIM — Model. Solve. Verify.
