Designed an outdoor enclosure for a kiosk style inverter system for a residential estate. The client needed a manufacturer for the cabinets that was closer to the installation site, and as such had pre existing requirements in terms of dimensions and styling.
Upon inspection of the existing cabinet, we noted the extremely high internal temperatures on a not particularly warm day. This elevated temperatures would lead to premature failure of the electrical equipment inside. As the inverter was rated for outdoor use, we opted to redesign the cabinet in a completely unique way.
We separated the cabinet into 2 areas, one would be less protected from the elements but feature much higher airflow, allowing for better passive cooling as well as higher air flow rates from the additional fans. The second section would enclose all the AC switchgear, PV Switchgear, coms equipment and remote monitoring equipment and would be rated at IP65 to ensure no water ingress could advance to the sensitive electrical equipment.
