Mine Motivator
Cummins Mine Motivator Mobile Power Station
This project involves the comprehensive CAD design and structural engineering of the Cummins Mine Motivator, a massive, heavy-duty mobile power-generation system used in open-pit mining environments. The system integrates high-output diesel generation with extreme mobility, designed to power ultra-class mining machinery like electric rope shovels.
Key Design & Engineering Highlights Structural Integrity: Designed a ruggedized, reinforced 40-foot flatbed trailer chassis capable of supporting multi-ton Cummins Generator Systems under high-vibration and off-road mining conditions.
Component Integration: Modelled the precise layout and spatial packaging of 1 MVA to 2 MVA diesel engines, high-capacity fuel tanks, cooling systems, and high-voltage switchgear.
Environmental Protection: Engineered custom, heavy-duty enclosures designed to shield sensitive mechanical and electrical components from extreme dust, high altitudes, and severe weather impacts.
Functional Ergonomics: Created safe, accessible maintenance access points and control interfaces optimized for a specialized three-man operation team.
Core Capabilities Demonstrated Heavy Machinery Packaging: Complex assembly routing of mechanical, electrical, and thermal management systems within tight dimensional constraints.
Design for Harsh Environments: Material selection and structural design focused on durability, fatigue resistance, and thermal efficiency.
Industrial Mobility Design: Translating stationary power infrastructure into an agile, trailer-mounted industrial asset.
