Industrial Canopy Extension Design for Truck Loading – Retrofit Using Existing Structure

This project showcases an engineering retrofit solution developed to expand an existing industrial building by adding a canopy extension (loading shed) for truck loading operations. The main goal was to create a covered loading area on the opposite side of the building, enabling product loading without significant structural changes and while maximizing the use of the existing steel and masonry structure. Project Highlights: Engineering design focused on minimum structural intervention Strategic reuse of existing columns, beams, and roof system Design of a steel canopy extension integrated with the current building Optimized layout for truck access, maneuvering, and loading Reduced construction cost and execution time Fully detailed fabrication and installation drawings Scope of Services: Technical evaluation of the existing structure Structural concept and layout for the canopy extension 3D modeling of the proposed solution Executive and fabrication-ready drawings Clear detailing for assembly and on-site execution This project demonstrates expertise in industrial retrofitting, steel structure adaptation, and engineering solutions focused on practicality, safety, and cost efficiency, delivering a functional improvement without disrupting ongoing operations.
