House_boat the Black River

The House Boat project was created to transform a compact marine space into a modern, comfortable, and functional home. The client’s goal was to achieve a balance between elegance, practicality, and durability suitable for life on water. The main objectives were to optimize limited space, ensure ergonomic comfort, integrate marine-resistant materials, and create a cohesive interior design reflecting the client’s personal style. The major challenges involved dealing with restricted interior dimensions, constant humidity, and the need for clever storage solutions. These were addressed through initial 2D sketches, which tested circulation flows and furniture placement before moving into 3D models that allowed accurate visualization. Multi-functional furniture with integrated storage was proposed, along with a light neutral palette to enhance spaciousness and marine-grade finishes for long-lasting performance. The result is a house boat that combines comfort and contemporary design within the limits of a floating home. The interiors are functional, visually open, and resilient against marine conditions, providing the client with a personalized space that is both stylish and practical.
