Forest A-Frame Cabin | Two-Storey Timber Retreat

This project explores a contemporary interpretation of the classic A-frame cabin, designed as a compact two-storey timber retreat immersed in a forest landscape. The steep triangular form is employed not only as a visual identity but also as an efficient structural and climatic strategy. The continuous A-frame envelope integrates roof and wall into a single folded surface, minimizing structural complexity while enhancing spatial clarity. The exterior is clad in dark-toned vertical timber panels, allowing the building to visually recede into the surrounding forest, while the interior adopts warm natural wood to create a contrasting sense of comfort and intimacy. A full-height glazed façade opens the living space toward the forest, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior. Natural light penetrates deep into the double-height living area, strengthening the vertical spatial experience and reinforcing the dialogue between architecture and nature.
