Chip Conveyor
Chip conveyor systems are prevalent on CNC machines either as part of the machine or as an accessory. The primary purpose of a chip conveyor system is to remove scrap, or chips, produced by the cutting tool. Also called a scrap conveyor, a chip conveyor is typically operated using a various conveyor control systems positioned adjacent to the conveyor. Chip conveyors must be extremely reliable, as maintenance downtime and loss of production can be expensive.
Most manufacturing processes require a type of chip conveyor to collect metal chips or other waste generated during production. The chip conveyors are integrated into manufacturing equipment like CNC lathes, mills, stamping presses, and other machines to convey scrap and chips to a waste receptacle.
CNC chip conveyors have the following functions:
Remove scrap material from the machine tool
Keep industrial facilities clean, safe, and efficient for workers
Decrease the risk of metal scraps coming into contact with machinery/motors, which may result in costly repairs
Metal chip conveyors can be found in the following applications:
Machining and Grinding of all types
Recycling
Casting
Forging
Heavy-duty stamping
Primary metal Processing Machines
