Concept design of a stair mobility solution that reduces stigmatization on stair mobility aids. The briefing of this project was to design a stair mobility solution that appeals to people in Europe under 50 years old by reducing stigmatization on the use uf such devices. The client in case was Thyssen Krupp Accessibility, and an important part of the briefing was that the product should use the companys' existing rail and drive unit. The concept I developed focuses on how the product grows with the user and it morphs into 4 different stages. In the first stage, the product is only the rail, the drive unit, and a platform, which would be used to carry heavy goods upstairs. In the second stage, the user can fold the platform and add the adjustable handle, so the device is used as a walking aid. In the tird stage, the user stands on the platform and is carried upstairs in a standing position. Finally the user can remove the platform and handle to add a chair and turn in into a typical stairlift.
