Centrifugal Pump Housing Cold-Box Casting Tooling

The customer provided a drawing of the final centrifugal pump housing. The task was to design and manufacture tooling for cold-box casting. The tooling was produced from resin-impregnated plywood and prepared for application of a release coating. The project included: • 3D reconstruction of the pump housing • Development of casting tooling geometry • Design of tooling blocks and manufacturing interfaces • CAM process development • CNC program preparation • Physical manufacture of the tooling • Preparation of an eDrawings review model My role covered part and tooling design, manufacturing documentation, CAM programming, and tooling production. The project was completed in 14 days.
