Bike Frame Metal Mount
A client in the US needed a custom metal mount designed to fit a specific bike frame.
The part needed to be designed for sheet metal cutting and press brake bending and attach securely to a specific bike frame.
Mild steel was selected for strength and fabricability. Initial thickness was set at 2mm based on load and stiffness requirements but after consultation with the fabricator this was revised to 1mm, which provided sufficient strength at the geometry involved while reducing weight and material cost.
I used sheet metal design features to model the part with precise bend allowances and relief cuts, ensuring the geometry would translate accurately through fabrication.
I delivered a flat pattern layout for cutting and a full engineering drawing with bend lines, bend angles, material thickness callouts, and dimensional tolerances for the fabrication team.
The part went through sheet metal cutting and press brake bending using the drawings I provided and came out exactly to spec.
Project was completed in 3 days from brief to production-ready files.
