Basketball Robot | SolidWorks Shooter Design & Prototype

An eight-person university team took this robot from CAD to a working competition build and won first place in an interdepartmental robot basketball competition. MY ROLE Team leader and mechanical designer for the shooter and its placement in the robot. I developed that subsystem in SolidWorks and coordinated its integration with the wider assembly. ENGINEERING FOCUS Connecting a mechanical subsystem to a complete robot: component placement, assembly context and collaboration across mechanical, electronics and software work. DESIGN TO BUILD 1. SolidWorks assembly view: the overall robot layout, including the shooter design. 2. First physical assembly: the prototype during integration. 3. Competition build: the assembled robot holding a basketball, showing the CAD concept carried through to hardware. RESULT First place, achieved by the eight-person team. The project demonstrates mechanical CAD, prototyping and coordination of a subsystem within a working mechatronic product. PROJECT SCOPE University team project. My design contribution was the shooter and its placement. Teammates owned the platform connection, YOLO detection, controller and production. Overall robot images are included to show integration context.
