Automotive Hose Assembly Equipment | Mechanical Design & Production Tooling
Mechanical design and manufacturing development of custom production equipment used in an automotive hose assembly line.
The project involved the design of dedicated fixtures and tooling for positioning, clamping and assembling flexible rubber hoses, connectors and molded components with repeatable positioning during production.
My scope included 3D mechanical design in SolidWorks, pneumatic actuators, clamping mechanisms, machined locating nests, hose guides, supports, welded frames, adjustable fixtures and manufacturing documentation.
Because the hoses had complex three-dimensional shapes, their geometry was also modeled using 3D curves and sweep features to reproduce the actual routing and support conditions inside the fixture.
The equipment was designed with manufacturability, repeatability, accessibility, adjustment and operator use in mind. The portfolio includes CAD assemblies, detailed fixture components, manufactured equipment and examples of production drawings used for fabrication.
The equipment was manufactured and used in a real production environment. Project materials shown in this portfolio are shared with authorization from the project owner.
