Art-to-CNC — Image Vectorization & High-Precision Toolpath Engineering for CNC Woodworking
Transformed hand-drawn and scanned artistic
motifs into production-ready CNC files..
from raw image capture through vector
reconstruction, toolpath optimization, and
material layout. Delivered clean-cut results
with no post-processing required.
TECHNICAL PROCESS:
1. IMAGE CAPTURE & PROCESSING
• Scanned original artwork via CamScanner
• Applied noise reduction and threshold
correction for clean edge extraction
• Output: High-resolution vector-ready
bitmap
2. VECTOR RECONSTRUCTION (AutoCAD)
• Manually rebuilt curves using G2/G3
continuity — eliminates velocity
discontinuities that cause machine
jitter, burning, or burring in wood
• All radii verified against client's
minimum tool diameter to prevent
uncut corners
• Spline geometry simplified without
loss of visual fidelity — reduces
file size and machine processing time
3. CNC OPTIMIZATION
• Toolpath customized to client's
specific bit diameters and machine
kinematics
• Corner entries and exits chamfered
to maintain constant feed rate
through tight radii
• Climb vs. conventional milling
direction selected per wood grain
orientation to minimize tearout
4. MATERIAL NESTING
• Patterns arranged on board layout
to maximize material yield and
minimize waste cuts
• Kerf width accounted for in all
part spacing
