AC Evaporator assembly
High-precision 3D CAD modeling and reverse engineering of an industrial/automotive AC Evaporator Coil Assembly.
This project involved capturing complex geometry and reconstructing a multi-pass refrigerant tube network, intricate U-bends (return bends), manifold headers, and structural mounting brackets into a fully constrained parametric 3D CAD assembly.
Project Highlights & Engineering Scope:
• Complex Tube Routing: Reconstructed multi-row serpentine tube paths with precise centerline paths, bend radii, and wall thickness consistency.
• Return Bends & Manifolds: Modeled individual hairpin return bends, braze joints, and inlet/outlet refrigerant manifold tubes.
• Assembly & Fitment: Defined true parametric mating relationships between the tube bundles, side plates, and structural housing for downstream manufacturing and CFD/thermal analysis.
• Design Intent Recovery: Restored nominal dimensions and clearances from physical component data, ensuring proper packaging envelope constraints.
Software & Deliverables:
• Software Used: Geomagic Design X, SolidWorks
• Available Formats: Native Parametric Feature Tree (SolidWorks .sldasm / .sldprt), Neutral CAD (STEP AP214/AP242, IGES, Parasolid .x_t)
