4-Cylinder Turbo Exhaust Manifold (Scan-to-CAD)
High-precision parametric Scan-to-CAD reconstruction of an automotive Inline-4 (I4) Cast Turbo Exhaust Manifold.
This model was reverse-engineered from high-density 3D scan data in Geomagic Design X, accurately recovering design intent, restoring worn/cast nominal dimensions, and establishing precise geometric relationships for downstream engineering and performance fabrication.
Engineering Highlights & Geometry Scope:
• 4-into-2 Divided Runner Routing: Accurately captured smooth, aerodynamic internal exhaust gas paths pairing cylinders 1-4 and 2-3 for balanced twin-scroll turbocharger spooling.
• Precision Machined Flanges: Reconstructed true planar cylinder head mounting faces (with standard 2-bolt port patterns) and the dual-port turbine inlet flange.
• Auxiliary Flanges & Features: Modeled the integrated 2-bolt EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) port, heat shield mounting bosses, and structural cast stiffening ribs.
• Manufacturing & DFM Intent: Uniform wall thicknesses and smooth transition fillets developed to match industrial casting and CNC port-matching standards.
Software & Deliverables:
• Software Used: Geomagic Design X, SolidWorks
• Available Formats: STEP (AP214 / AP242), Parasolid (.x_t), IGES, STL mesh, and native parametric feature trees.
