3D Printer Project โ From Concept to Simulation
Iโm excited to share a project I recently worked on: the design and simulation of a 3D printer! This hands-on experience enabled me to delve deeply into mechanical design, motion systems, and simulation techniques.
๐ง Key Highlights:
Designed a robust frame using aluminium extrusions for high strength and modularity.
Integrated a lead screw mechanism to convert motor rotation into precise linear motion on all 3 axes.
Implemented an E3D V6 hotend, known for its high-performance material extrusion.
Ensured stable motion along the OX, OY, and OZ axes using mini V gantry plates and dual lead screws.
Simulated full printer kinematics and platform movement to verify performance and reliability.
๐ฅ๏ธ Software Used:
CATIA for 3D modelling, mechanical conception, and motion simulation
๐ฏ Specs:
Heater bed: 400ร400 mm
Platform: 500ร500ร22 mm
Overall dimensions: 580ร580ร766 mm
This project enhanced my skills in mechanical design, CAD modelling, and system simulation, and deepened my understanding of how precision systems like 3D printers function.
