Concept Design for an IoT Device

This design was completed as part of an online freelancer design contest for an internet-of-things (IoT) PCB enclosure. The client didn't give too much away with regards to its application, other than to say it was a domestic Wi-Fi enabled device which would utilize a magnetic base. The customer gave PCB dimensions and specified the incorporation of a micro-USB port, a power switch and some sort of illuminated indicator. They were also looking for a clean, simple and modern look that wouldn't look out of place in the home environment.
Using Autodesk's Fusion 360, I created a low profile enclosure with rounded corners and slightly curved and beveled sides. The housing incorporates a glowing outer ring to indicate that the unit is operational, with the USB port being located on the bottom half of the shell.
