Description:We are looking for an experienced real-world prop designer to helps us draught the technical drawings and necessary .dxf/.dwg files for the manufacture of a large handheld console prop, a D pad and some large buttons.
The props themselves will be constructed primarily from 1220 x 2440 18mm MDF and machined on a 3 axis flatbed CNC machine then put together, hand finished and painted in our workshop.
The main internal construction method for the larger console prop could be:
1. (desirable) 18mm MDF with a slot-together half lap joinery approach- please consider requirements for cutting CNC joinery i.e. sniglets.
2. CLS Timber 2x1 stud framework
Exterior panels will be fitted with discreet counter-sunk wood screws.
For the 'screen' of the console prop it will have a built in light box. The light box will be made up of a polycarbonate or acrylic diffusion sheet as its front face (framed by the front fascia) and LED panel lights or led strips recessed in a box cavity at a depth of no less than 60mm to illuminate it. The polycarbonate will have a vinyl graphic fixed to to it to provide the effect of on-screen graphics.
To power the screen we need to house a UK socket inside the internal structure of the console prop.
Access to plug and lights will be needed for future maintenance.
The D pad and button props require no illumination, and depending on design the may not necessarily need any sort of internal structure.
There must be a clear method of fixing the props to the ply structure underneath it in a concealed way.
All props must be robust and structurally safe. They must be able to take the weight of someone who may attempt to climb, stand or sit on them.
Attached .STEP files contain the models to reference for the visual design and real-world dimensions of the props. Attached image file contains some concept art of the props in their setting. Where there is a contrast in design follow the .STEP file over the concept artwork.
Files will need to be readable by a CNC machine- vector based, bezier curves, no NURBS
Software: Autodesk Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks
Wants:Entries will be evaluated based on:
-Easy to follow PDF technical drawings with clear indicators of material types and thickness
-Files that are ready to program for CNC
-Logical sequential construction methods
-Any written descriptions in clear, well written English
-Good modelling techniques
-A demonstration of good understanding of CNC joinery and general woodworking techniques
-Clear materials list with links to any required off-the-shelf products
